MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – There is no panic in Belarus due to threats of terrorism, BelTA learned from Police Major-General Valentin Mikhnevich, Chief of the Criminal Police, Belarusian First Deputy Interior Minister, on 20 November.
The police officer said: “There is no panic in Belarus. People respond adequately and calmly to the heightened security procedures and help police a lot. People actively report sightings of ownerless articles and suspicious persons while police responds in accordance with predetermined routines.”
According to the Belarusian Interior Ministry, in the past police would receive reports about items without owners, boxes and bags left in public places about several times per month on the average. At present Belarusian police receives up to ten reports like that per day.
