ST. PETERSBURG, 16 April (BelTA-TASS) - About 40 countries have shown interest in establishing free trade areas with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Sergei Naryshkin said during the 3rd International Forum Eurasian Economic Vision.
We are launching large-scale mutually beneficial projects with the economic powerhouses like China and India. There is one fundamental advantage of cooperation with them: along with raw materials, we export high-tech products and create joint ventures based on the Eurasian technologies. All this stimulates modernization and diversification of the economies of our states,” the Speaker of the State Duma said.
Vietnam may become the first country to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union. In early April 2015, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung discussed the issues of singing the FTA between the EEU and Vietnam at the talks in Hanoi. Iran and the Eurasian Economic Commission also agreed to explore the opportunities of signing the free trade agreement.
