Myasnikovich: Belarus ready to create comfortable conditions for German investors

Belarus is ready to create comfortable conditions for German investors, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with a delegation of the Landtag of the Federal State of Saxony, BelTA has learned.

“Our trade and economic cooperation has slowed down for various reasons, primarily the global processes. I think we should restore the trade and investment relations to the level we had a few years ago. Western companies, including German ones, are withdrawing their assets from the countries of Southeast Asia and bring them back to the old economy (European – note by BelTA), the economy of their states or other western states. If you feel it is a bit crowded there, you can work with the Belarusian assets. We will create all the necessary conditions for the German business to feel comfortable,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

As a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, Belarus can effectively facilitate trade and investment relations of Germany with the huge Eurasian economic business space.

“For Belarus Germany is one of the key foreign partners. I believe we have built mutually respectful, good relations. I believe that our contacts with the federal lands and federal governments will expand. At least, we are looking forward to this,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed that Belarus is grateful to the German side for supporting the decision of the Council of the European Union to lift sanctions against Belarus.

The Chairman of the Council of the Republic noted that the visit of the delegation of the Saxon Landtag is important not only for establishing inter-parliamentary contacts but also for the Belarusian-German relations in general. “I am very pleased to meet with colleagues to discuss inter-parliamentary contacts. Belarus is gearing up for the parliamentary elections. I am sure that all the necessary procedures will be respected, and the elections will be held peacefully and democratically in accordance with the national laws. While in Belarus you, as politicians, may be interested to see with your own eyes and evaluate the situation in this regard in our country,” Mikhail Myasnikovich added.
